Almost all the Morocco Truants made it to the Embassy despite the atrocious weather conditions. Of the 40 Riders from Marrakesh only John Muncey was unable to make it originally due to his daughter’s 18th Birthday Party, and on the day we “lost” the Penningtons to flu and the Lyons to snow, both sending abject apologies.  But the rest were there – including David flying in specially from Washington DC, Jason from Dubai, Mr and Mrs Gunnar form Sweden and Mr and Mrs Hojo from France. Now that is commitment to the cause, especially with the weather –  sad to say they all had problems one way or the other! So in all we had 80 hardy souls present, including welcoming some former Truant riders, representatives of the three Charities and , of course, Helen from Classic tours.

Sadly there are no photos as the camera used to take pictures all the way through the evening was apparently lost in the mayhem at the end! *Update, we found it!

The evening started with the Movie Premiere of Andy Fellini’s magnificent epic The Morocco Bike Ride and then moved upstairs at the Embassy for dinner and the food was exceptional it is fair to say. After dinner Rod introduced us to our next ride in Cambodia Jan 2014 and handed out the Certificates of Achievement and the three cheques for £100,030 to the Charities. Tom then followed in his most singular manner with the highlight of the evening – the much coveted and truly magnificent Dairy Crest Awards (thanks to Mark Allen for providing these). We congratulate the worthy winners. As usual Tom was most enlightening and amusing so we have attached the Awards transcript here for you full enjoyment.

A fine evening , with copious amounts of fine wine consumed, continued on for many to the notorious Sanctum Soho Terrace and a number were seen as dawn approached. Simeon, Victor or Paul and Carol can tell you who!

Another fine Truants evening ended as most do…

…a very bad next day.
