The Truants Africa Bike Ride
22nd- 28th March 2025
RACE NATION PAGE
This is the ideal way of donating via credit card especially as Gift Aid is taken automatically. Upon registration, a Race Nation page will be automatically created for you and an email sent with links to edit your page.
Click Here for the “How To..” guide on customising your page.
Please be aware that donations received on your Race Nation page in currency other than Sterling, will automatically be converted to Sterling. So any friends in the USA or Australia or South Africa (of course) can just send in donations in their own currency on their own card.
WIRE TRANSFERS
For larger transfers, we ask that you use this mechanism. This is also the best way for companies to donate as they cannot claim Gift Aid.
If an individual is donating, it would raise more money if you can email a Gift Aid Certificate to them and ask them to return to Charles.

CHEQUE DONATIONS
This isn’t the ideal way to donate due to the extra admin, but if no other option- please ask your donors to make their cheques payable to “The Truants Foundation” and on the back of the cheque, please ask them to write (your) SURNAME/AFR25 If they are paying on a personal cheque, please ask them to complete a Gift Aid form and send cheques and forms to:
Helen Curl
104 Waverley Ave
Twickenham
TW2 6DN
To claim the tax back on the donation some contributors may ask for Receipts from the Charity. These can be arranged so contact Helen and give her details. Once the money is banked she will arrange a receipt with all the details necessary. Some may wish to have the Charity Number which is: 1191441
GIFT AID from a UK taxpayer is 25% on top of the donation so very appreciable and it therefore helps to get Gift Aid forms completed for these donations from individual UK Taxpayers and send them completed to Charles, ideally with the cheque. Note that Gift Aid can automatically be taken on RaceNation so no need for any forms.
CHARITY QUOTES
To help in your fundraising quest, here are some quotes from each of the charities explaining where the money is used:
TCT:
‘At Teenage Cancer Trust, we rely on donations to carry out our vital work providing specialist care for young people with cancer. The astonishing amount The Truants raised at last year’s ride in Argentina was enough to fund two Lead Nurse roles for an entire year. Our Lead Nurses are highly trained to head up the specialist care of every young person in one our units. We are so grateful to have The Truants in our corner and for the truly phenomenal fundraising and support they have given us over the years!’
STC:
Since becoming amazing supporters of Save the Children, The Truants have raised over £200,000 which has helped to create lasting change for children across the world through funding Emergency Health Units, the running costs of temporary classrooms to provide education during conflict, providing families with warm blankets and clothing to make it through winter and providing food and medicine to help tackle malnutrition.
N&R:
The Truants have been incredible supporters, raising an absolutely incredible amount of over £1.8M for Nordoff and Robbins since the start of their fundraising. This has paid for over 20,000 music therapy sessions, helping us reach more people in need with the power of music. We are so grateful for your support!
Childline:
Since 2013 The Truants have been supporting and fundraising for Childline raising over £1.3m. This has enabled us to continue to be there by phone, email and online chat for the brave children and young people that call us. £4 could help answer a child’s call for help to Childline and it costs £40,000 a day to run the service. The money The Truants has raised allows us to be there when children need us and ensures they have someone to turn to when they are in distress or danger.
